User Policy: AllStarLink Node 68074

Rules of Operation

I make my AllStar node available to the public as a shared community resource available via RF and the internet. It is operated in accordance with FCC regulations and established amateur radio practices. As such, I must impose some rules for its use.

Be a good operator. Listen first. Keying this node could potentially put your voice on hundreds of repeaters so have some situational awareness before you start dialing or talking.

1. Licensed Operators Only

Access is limited to licensed amateur radio operators. All operation must comply with FCC rules and accepted amateur radio standards.

2. Proper Identification Required

Operators must identify using their callsign at least every 10 minutes during use, and at the end of every session. Internet-connected users are held to the same identification standards as RF users.

3. Appropriate Use

This node is intended for normal amateur radio activity, including conversation, ragchews, and technical discussion. Please use it freely but respect that it is a shared resource.

Please share the system:

  • Do not monopolize the node. This is a limited, shared resource.
  • Leave pauses for others to break in.
  • Almost disconnect before connect.
  • Disconnect when finished.
  • This node is not intended for unattended or personal links.
  • If you hear a conversation in progress, don’t disconnect it.

4. Prohibited Behavior

The following behavior is not cool and will get you booted:

  • Profanity, obscene, or indecent content
  • Harassment, personal attacks, or intentional disruption
  • Bridging multiple repeaters or networks
  • Political campaigning or one-way editorializing
  • Commercial use or advertising
  • Music, soundboards, or intentional noise

Behavior inappropriate for a repeater is also inappropriate here.

5. Technical Standards

Operators are expected to maintain clean, intelligible audio and proper levels. Misconfigured or disruptive RF or internet connections may be disconnected.

6. Full Duplex Operation

This node operates in full duplex mode. Monitor before transmitting and avoid talking over ongoing conversations. Refrain from “latching”.

7. Enforcement

This node is monitored. Access may be restricted or blocked at the discretion of the node control operators to protect system integrity and user experience. No warning or explanation is required.

8. Operator Courtesy

Courtesy, cooperation, and good amateur practice are expected at all times.

Licensed operators are welcome. Disruptive behavior is not.

Thank you and 73,
