ARRL Foundation scholarships for 2027 opened Oct. 30, 2026, with more than 170 awards ranging from $500 to $25,000 available to amateur radio operators pursuing higher education. Applications must be submitted online by noon EST Dec. 21, 2026, according to the ARRL Letter.

ARRL Foundation Scholarships Span More Than 170 Awards

The Foundation’s current scholarship program page lists more than 170 awards established by donors. The scholarship descriptions set individual eligibility requirements, which can vary by region, educational level, institution and field of study.

The program’s general guidance calls for active FCC-licensed amateur radio operators, while some individual awards accept foreign-issued licenses and applicants from any country. ARRL identifies the 10-10 International and Amateur Radio Digital Communications scholarships as examples. Their award descriptions set additional requirements, so applicants should review the specific listings before applying.

Applications Require Transcripts and Supporting Documents

Applicants must complete the online form and submit a recent transcript with the application. Some awards require additional material, including a recommendation letter from an officer of an ARRL-affiliated club. The Foundation says applications missing required documents will not be considered; documents should be submitted with the application rather than emailed separately.

Applications close at noon Eastern Standard Time on Dec. 21. The ARRL Foundation says recipients will be notified in June, with awards sent directly to their schools in July.

The 2026 Cycle Awarded 163 Scholarships

The Foundation awarded 163 scholarships totaling $813,000 in the 2026 cycle, the ARRL reported. Its 2027 application page lists the current awards and application link.
